Kashmiri students beaten in Punjab colleges after the end of India-Pakistan ICC World Cup match

Students from Bhai Gurdas Institute of Engineering and Technology shared videos of the attack from inside their hostel after the cricket match. The same kind of reports came from the Rayat Bahrat University situated in Kharar.

Numerous Kashmiri students were attacked at two educational centers in Punjab after Pakistan won the cricket match against India in ICC T-20 World Cup on Sunday night.

Nasir Khuehami, the national spokesperson J&K students Association claimed that Kashmiri students who were attacked in Sangrur and Kharar Mohali told him that they got rescued by the locals as well as other Punjabi students. Students belonging to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana went into their rooms and bashed them.

The video from Sangrur college displayed the brutality of certain students. One of the students blamed the security guard to allow the group of students from UP to enter into other rooms and assault other students.

A senior police official of Sangrur said that there are about 90 Kashmiri students and around 30 students belonging to UP and Bihar in the institution respectively. While the match was going on, the students cheered when Pakistan was hitting runs. Along with this, they raised Azadi slogans.
He said that students from UP and Bihar went inside the rooms of Kashmiri students after the match came to an end. The police as well as the college authorities pacified everything within some time.

This incident displays the hatred in the hearts of students for each other just because they belong to different religions. The incident is really brutal and shouldn’t be given acceptance.
