UEFA replaces Champions League final from Russia to Paris: Russia Ukraine War

According to the news source, Saint Petersburg will not be the hosting venue for the 2022 Champions League final due to the Ukrain-Russia crisis. After an extraordinary meeting of the UEFA executive committee, UEFA confirmed the news on Friday and issued the statement that the Champions League final would be hosted in the new venue Paris instead of Russia.

Also, It has also been confirmed by UEFA that the motor racing event Russian Grand Prix held at Sochi Autodrom has also been dropped by Formula One due to the Russia-Ukraine war as it drew punitive measures in the whole sporting world.

There is a report which revealed that after an emergency meeting of the UEFA executive committee, it has also been confirmed by European football’s governing body that the showpiece final of the European club season would be held on May 28, but now in the seventh-largest stadium in Europe Stade de France which have 80,698 seating capacity.

After the announcement of the Champions League final venue, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin expressed gratitude to French President Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron for his personal support and commitment to have European club football’s in France during an unparalleled crisis.

However, a Russian member of the UEFA executive committee, Alexander Dyukov, opposed the decision taken by UEFA against Russia’s hosting venue. And he also complained about the UEFA decision that Russian clubs and national teams will be playing at neutral venues until the next notice.

After attacking by Russian troops on Ukraine, world leaders came in support of the European country and decided to punish the Russian economy and its leaders.

Apart from this, as per the report, Formula One also made an announcement regarding the cancellation of the  Russian Grand Prix, which was previously scheduled for September 25. The sports owners of Formula One issued this statement on Friday due to the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

One of our news sources disclosed that F1 said in a statement that “We are watching the developments in Ukraine with sadness and shock and hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to the present situation.”

Besides that, the sponsorship of Russian company Uralkali has also been dropped by the American team Haas during preseason testing in Barcelona.
